Because Illionois Secretary of State Jesse White hadn’t signed the certificate of appointment along with Blago. So, what happens next?
CNN’s Susan Roesgen reports that Burris has filed a motion, a “writ of mandamus,” with the Illinois Supreme Court to force the Illinois secretary of state to sign the certificate. There court has not yet issued a ruling on the issue.
Will it stop Burris from showing up and trying to gain entry tomorrow? Of course not.
“What has been done here is legal. That’s legal. I am the junior senator from Illinois, and I wish my colleagues and the press would recognize that,” he said.
He said he plans to appear at the chamber door Tuesday, even though he expects to be denied entry.
We’re in for a whole bunch of fun tomorrow, aren’t we?
