Hopefully, Pres Elect Obama will have the good sense to invite Capt Sullenberger, his family, crew and the rescuers to the inaugaral Tuesday. Then, hopefully, congress will formally recognize Capt Sullenberger for his deft and quick thinking in a crisis resulting in no lost lives.

I don't believe our Congress ever recognized Capt Al Haynes for a similar feat he peformed in Sioux City, IA July 19, 1989 when he successfully landed a DC-10 without hydraulics. Although there was loss of life, all predictions were that the jet should have crash landed without survivors.

Wake up congress: It's time to recognize the real heros in our society

This pilot, and his crew did an absolutely commendable job, their years of training and experience having paid high percentage dividends. Raises questions in my mind regarding the mandatory retirement of such supremely professional people though.
