List of Republicans Who Voted for the Tax Evader

You’ve probably heard by now that Timothy Geithner, last seen evading his taxes and hiring housekeepers in the nation illegally, was confirmed as Treasury Secretary by the U.S. Senate this evening. Ten Republican Senators voted in favor of confirming a tax evader as head of the department that collects taxes. Here they are:

Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN)
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX)
Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID)
Sen. John Ensign (R-NV)
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)
Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH)
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL)
Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME)
Sen. George Voinovich (R-OH)

Some of them are surprising (Cornyn, Ensign), while others surprised no one (Graham, Snowe, Hatch). But they should all be equally ashamed of themselves. Do these morons understand that even Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV), Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), and Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) broke with the Obama Administration and opposed Geithner? Or that the only Independent Senator in the body, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), also voted against the Treasury Secretary?

For the record (with thanks to Michelle Malkin), here are the ten Republican senators who think it is just fine to have a guy who violates the tax laws policing how American citizens comply with the tax laws — an incongruity we should overlook because Geithner’s done such a great job so far addressing the financial melt-down…

We have to pick our spots in opposing The One at this point, partly because he’s so popular at the moment and partly because we don’t want the force of a no vote diminished by opposing everything and coming off as mindless obstructionists. But Obama’s other appointees have all been rubber-stamped; only Holder will catch static, and with good reason. If you can’t draw the line on a tax cheat at Treasury, where can you draw it?

No where, of course. We’re talking about the Messiah here.
