He believes he has support from two Republicans, and we can confirm that Collins (Rino-Maine) will bend over for President HopeNChange.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Thursday that he has enough votes to pass a more than $900 billion stimulus bill out of the Senate.
Reid said he believes at least two Republicans of “good will” would support the Democratic-crafted package.
“Do we have the votes? I believe we do,” said Reid, who expects a final vote on the package will be held on Thursday.
And Collins is sold:
Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine said Obama, in a meeting with her on Wednesday, had persuaded her that the ultimate bill should be “in the neighborhood of $800 billion.”
“The president did convince me,” she said, adding that she believed the two sides would reach a compromise on the Senate stimulus package on Thursday.
To be clear here, it won’t matter that all House Republicans and all but two Senate Republicans voted against this crap sandwich. No, the destined-to-fail legislation will be called totally bipartisan and blame will be equally shared with, or even dumped on, the Republican Party. The media and Democratic leadership won’t let Obama & Co. take the fall for it by themselves.
Who is the second B.O. Republican? Michelle Malkin says Voinovich isn’t it. Usual suspects would be Snowe, Specter, or perhaps Hatch. The latter has been doing all he can to bend over for The One.
Here are their numbers:
Collins (202) 224-2523
Snowe (202) 224-5344
Voinovich (202) 224-3353
Specter (202) 224-4254
