France: No More Troops for Afghanistan

by Stephan Tawney on February 9, 2009

I posted about Europe in general in my last post, but this is direct word from France’s Defense Minister that the country won’t provide any more forces for the fight against the Taliban. They feel that they’ve done plenty, thankyaverymuch.

PARIS (AP) — France’s defense minister is ruling out for now increasing the country’s military presence in Afghanistan.

Herve Morin told France-Inter radio Sunday that France has “already made a considerable effort” toward stabilizing the troubled country. He said “there’s no question for the moment of sending additional troops.”

Apparently replacing the evil Chimpy McBushilter with President HopenChange doesn’t make many of our European friends any more willing to kick-in support. Who’da thunk it.
