Stimulus Cloture Passes 61-36

by Stephan Tawney on Mon, Feb 9, 2009

The final vote was 61-36, so the Senate will vote on the actual bill tomorrow. That will require just a simply majority. After passage the bill will go to conference, where the House and Senate will have to hammer out the differences. Assuming they can reach an acceptable compromise (to them, at least) the bill will have to be voted on by both houses again. If passed again it’ll become law.

Gregg (R-NH) abstained. Bob Corker was reportedly chickenshit, voting Aye and then Nay. Snowe, Collins, and Specter — the Turncoat Coalition — voted for the crap sandwich, as expected. No Democrats stood up to Reid and Obama.
