Republican Governor Charlie Crist attended Barack Obama’s pro-stimulus rally in Florida today, insisting that the plan isn’t a partisan issue. He said this as members of the crowd chanted Obama’s campaign slogan, “Yes we can!”, and obsessed supporters gave puke-worthy worship.
But whatever the motive, Florida’s popular Republican Gov. Charlie Crist — once on the short list to be Sen. John McCain’s vice presidential running mate — today embraced President Obama’s megabillion-dollar stimulus package.
Only moments before McCain voted against the president’s stimulus package, which passed on a 61-37 vote, Crist welcomed Obama to Florida and blessed the package.
“This issue, helping our country, is about helping our country,” Crist said. “This is not about partisan politics. It’s about rising above that, helping America and reigniting our economy.”
Uh huh. Which is why Obama’s been slamming Republicans, lying about their efforts, and his supporters are still chanting campaign slogans. Because it’s not a matter of partisan politics.
Crist is up for re-election in 2010. Let’s make sure that this member of the Turncoat Coalition has a primary challenger.
