When Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand was nominated by Gov. David Patterson of New York to replace Hillary Clinton, a Republican-leaning Congressional seat opened up for special election. That election, which will be held on March 31st, will pit Democrat Scott Murphy against Republican Jim Tedisco. Murphy, a venture capitalist, already faces an uphill battle against Tedisco, the Assembly Minority Leader.
Well, the challenge for Murphy may’ve just grown a little larger. It would seem that a company he owns, Small World Software, hasn’t paid all of the taxes it owes to the government. SWS has had three tax liens placed against it, two of which are still outstanding after 9 years. Even though official documents prove that the liens exist against his company, Murphy refuses to accept responsibility for the $445.85 and $298.50 bills.
Considering that Mr. Murphy reportedly plans to spend upwards of $200,000 to launch his political career, would it be out of line to suggest that he can afford the $744.35 his company owes Uncle Sam?

This is a disturbing pattern. Paraphrasing another conservative radio host from the other day, it’s no wonder that the Dems have never failed to support increasing taxes – they don’t pay them.
