A thousand pardons for such a late posting, but I’ve been under work all day long. House Republicans and 7 Democrats should be very proud of themselves today. They held the line against the porkulus monstrosity that will rob future generations of trillions of dollars. They took a stand and refused to bend over simply because The One would give them a pat on the head.
Of course, too much of the Senate lacks the same testicular fortitude to say “no” to The One. So Arlen Specter, Susan Collins, and Olympia Snowe are set to abandon Republican principles and once again back this bill. All so they’ll be liked by the majority. What a pathetic bunch the Turncoat Caucus is. The Senate is voting as we speak.
How did the market react to today’s passage of the stimulus? It closed down another 82.35 points or 1%. Them investors are really excited about this, yesiree.
Update: As expected, all three Turncoats voted for the crap sandwich. With Sherrod Brown to be flown in for the vote (Reid is holding it open for hours), it’s over. We’re spending trillions of dollars over the next ten years on a plan that even the VP says has a good chance of failing. Few members of Congress even read the bill or fully understood how much debt they’re putting future generations on the hook for. But they know they could appease The One and figured they had to do something, anything. Even if it’s disastrous.
