Apparently members of Congress get threats all of the time. Except that AIG employees and their family members aren’t elected government officials in one of the world’s most protected cities. Regardless of your position on the bonuses, the company’s employees receiving enough death threats to hire armed guards isn’t something to blow off.
By the way, Congress is now engaging in a witch hunt. Frank (Corruptocrat-MA) wants the names of AIG executives who won’t return their bonuses, but he won’t guarantee confidentiality for safety purposes.
The undistinguished gentleman from Massachusetts know that in this climate releasing the names of the people who had contracts with AIG could be dangerous. But he’s more interested in engaging in CYA tactics and making Americans think he actually gives a crap about them. If the safety and well-being of AIG employees and their families is put at risk to accompish that goal, well, that’s just the price that’ll have to be paid so that Barney Frank can look like a populist martyr.
Sickening.
