Which is, as CNN points out, a direct contradiction of his earlier claims. He had previously told the news organization that he had nothing to do with the adding of the provision to the stimulus. All while trying to scapegoat Edward Liddy for the bonuses he had nothing to do with.
And here’s CNN’s report:
Senate Banking committee Chairman Christopher Dodd told CNN’s Dana Bash and Wolf Blitzer Wednesday that he was responsible for adding the bonus loophole into the stimulus package that permitted AIG and other companies that received bailout funds to pay bonuses.
On Tuesday, Dodd denied to CNN that he had anything to do with the adding of that provision.
So Dodd lied, in other words. He tried to cover his ass by deceiving the American public about his actions, all while trying to pass the buck to others. And meanwhile Bawney Fwank is demanding that the safety of AIG employees be put on the line in order to look like a populist martyr.
Have these people no shame? Don’t answer that. If Chris Dodd had any shame whatsoever, he wouldn’t still be in Congress.
