A man who voted for Barack Obama in his late wife’s name will plead guilty to voter fraud, the Associated Press reports.
A Wisconsin man has acknowledged that he illegally cast an absentee ballot for Barack Obama in his wife’s name to fulfill her dying wish.
Stephen Wroblewski (roe-BLESS-key) of Milwaukee said Wednesday he plans to plead guilty to voter fraud to end the embarrassing episode.
He says he contacted prosecutors the day after the fall election after learning that the ballot he cast for his wife was being challenged.
Republicans often joke about the deceased voting for Democrats. Apparently it’s not as far from reality as we thought. You have to wonder how many cases like this, or cases with worse intentions in mind, there are out there.
Wroblewski’s wife was apparently a Democratic activist who recently passed away from lung cancer. While it may be sweet that the widower was looking to fulfill his wife’s dying wish, that doesn’t mean one can commit voter fraud in order to do so.
Was Wroblewski unaware that voting in someone else’s name is illegal? Apparently he was married to a woman who was a “was a stickler for the rules” and woul’ve been appalled at his behavior. I doubt he was ignorant of basic voting laws.
