Republicans in the House of Representatives released a new advertisement today, in which they went after President Obama on the national security/foreign policy front. You can see the video over at Hot Air.
The Politico is shocked — shocked — that the GOP would dare to remind people what insufficient efforts in the war on terror yields by flashing — for even a second — video of the Pentagon on fire.
Meanwhile, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is denouncing the politics of fear:
“Republicans are once again resorting to fear tactics because they have no new ideas or constructive policies to offer,” said Katie Grant, a spokeswoman for House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.). “The American people have already rejected their politics of fear, and this will be no different. Democrats are providing real change and real solutions, which is exactly what the American people expect and deserve from their leaders.”
Yes, damn those Republicans and their fear tactics. How dare they scare the American public in order to achieve political goals. Why, that’s a tactic reserved for Obama and Conressional Demorats when they warn that failing to pass their agenda will crash the economy and push us into a recession from which we’ll never recover.
Because each day we wait to begin the work of turning our economy around, more people lose their jobs, their savings and their homes. And if nothing is done, this recession might linger for years. Our economy will lose 5 million more jobs. Unemployment will approach double digits. Our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse.
See, making wild predictions about how the economy will never recover, scaring Joe and Jane Citizen about their finances and employment, is just dandy. But daring to bring up historical facts about how a weak defense has harmed us before is an OUTRAGE!!1! Such is the reasoning of the left.
