Obama Claims He’s Already Saved Jobs

Give the man credit: As hundreds of thousands of Americans are losing their jobs and other are unable to pay their bills, it takes gnads the size of beachballs to make the claim that you’ve saved jobs — without any supporting data.

This budget builds on the steps we’ve taken over the last 100 days to move this economy from recession to recovery and ultimately to prosperity.

We began by passing a Recovery Act that has already saved or created over 150,000 jobs and provided a tax cut to 95 percent of all working families.

Let’s ignore the fact that the Associated Press has already called Obama out on the tax cut, pointing out that he’s raised taxes on average Americans in other ways. Exactly which 150,000 jobs did the Recovery Act save? Can the White House actually prove its claim?

Critics of the administration warned this would happen. Obama claimed he would save or create 3.3 million jobs through his policies, yet there’s no way to prove that number. As long as there are 3.3 million Americans employed by the end of Obama’s term, he can claim to have lived up to his word.
