As the Obama Administration has been discovering over these past few months, campaign rhetoric and classroom theories are one thing. Actually having to govern is something entirely different. You can find that demonstrated once again today, as the White House now says it will fight the release of photographs allegedly showing “torture”.
US President Barack Obama has changed his mind and will now attempt to block the publication of photographs showing the abuse of prisoners by US soldiers.
The US government had previously said it would not fight a court ruling ordering the release of the pictures.
Mr Obama now believes the release of the photos would make the job of US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan more difficult, White House officials said.
Really? And it only took them until now to figure that out?
This puts the administration in an interesting position. The ACLU, which filed the suit for the release of the pictures, is more interested in protecting terrorists than Americans, and is usually a constituency of far-left liberals. President Obama, elected partially due to the efforts of such organizations, will now fight them in the courts, arguing that the release of those pictures will threaten national security. This after the administration released memos that many intelligence officials said would do the same.
Apparently this new era of unprecedented transparency is a bit more opaque then we’ve been lead to believe.

Obama reverses on releasing detainee photos…
I am surprised, pleased, and a little suspicious of Obama’s decision on this…this was the correct thing to do….
