CNN: Cheney Favorable Ratings On the Rise

by Stephan Tawney on May 21, 2009

How did Democrats screw this up so badly? It wasn’t bad enough that their Speaker of the House is now viewed as a pathological liar, that Americans are now siding with the right over the torture issue, that Republicans have caught up in party ID surveys, or that even top Democrats have conceded that the decisions made on EITs have to be viewed in the context of the time. No, now Dick Cheney’s favorable ratings are on the rise.

It’s like a National Lampoon production.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The same day Dick Cheney on the battle against terrorism, a new national poll suggests that favorable opinions of the former vice president are on the rise.

But the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey, released Wednesday morning, indicates that a majority of Americans still have an unfavorable opinion of Cheney.

Fifty-five percent of people questioned in the poll say they have an unfavorable opinion of the former vice president. Thirty-seven percent say they have a favorable opinion of Cheney, up eight points from January when he left office.

Dick Cheney still isn’t about to be elected to national office anytime soon, but the trend isn’t exactly what Democrats would like to see. It’s not only the former VP of which Americans are having an increasingly better view, either. Former President George Bush’s favorable ratings are apparently also up six percent since leaving office.

Cheney’s on the rise because he is speaking to and for Republicans. Where was he when Bush was in office? He has to wait until a Democrat gets into office to start speaking up? Just like everything else that went wrong during the Bush year’s, Cheney turned out to be a liability. Now, when it’s totally inappropriate, he wants to condemn the new administration.

Hey Cheney, you had your chance. Now get out of the way and let our President do his job.
One thing for sure, if Obama is working on an issue, it will get resolved.

“One thing for sure, if Obama is working on an issue, it will get resolved.”

That’s a joke, right? Obama’s been working on the economy for months. Now unemployment is projected over 10%, the deficit is spiking significantly, there’s no new projected job growth for the rest of the year, and even some lefty economists are wondering as to what the hell he’s doing.

“Now, when it’s totally inappropriate, he wants to condemn the new administration. ”

In what way is it inappropriate to condemn something the administration is doing? Did the Clinton Administration members somehow stay away from condemning the Bush Administration?

People have memories. History didn’t re-start on January 20th.

Whether you like Cheney or not he’s speaking the truth and that seems to trouble some people!
