If even a quarter of the reports coming out of Iran this evening are accurate, there has been as major escaltion in violence between pro-Mousavi activists and the pro-Ahmadinejad militias. First up, dissident arrests. According to multiple outlets now, reformist leader Mohammad Ali Abtahi has been placed under arrest for what supporters say was called [...]

The resounding sound of their chants, the sheer size of the crowd, and how tightly packed they all are is a shocking display. How anyone could think that Ahmadinejad won an overwhelming victory is beyond me.

And this is before his relative silence on the ongoing violence and murder in the streets of Tehran. Hint: He’s “deeply troubled” that Iranian citizens are being beat and murdered by their own government and its sympathizers in the streets. Oh, and he gave a bland statement on Iranians picking their own leader (except that [...]

Despite pro-Ahmadinejad forces now having killed Iranians rallying in the streets, the U.S. State Department still refuses to condemn the crack-down launched by the government and its sympathizers. By the way, the White House is keeping silent, too. State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters Monday that the United States is concerned about allegations of [...]

Jim Sciutto, the senior foreign correspondent for ABC News stationed in Tehran, reports that about 100 reform leaders in Iran have been arrested. That jives with earlier reports that supporters of Mir Hossein Mousavi had been placed under arrest following post-stolen election riots.

Despite the overwhelming silence on the 24-hour news stations, the situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran is deteriorating by the moment. Iranians on Twitter are reporting that Mousavi is being accused of having contacts with people in the United States and Europe, in an attempt to discredit him amongst Iranians as a western puppet.
