Her statement wasn’t just dripping with condescension. There was so much condescension running off that thing I was surprised her aides didn’t have to run to the floor with buckets.
Harry Alford of the National Black Chamber of Commerce came to testify upon invitation on energy policy. But when he took a stance that clearly opposed that of Sen. Barbara Boxer’s, the California senator began quoting reports from the NAACP and 100 Black Men of Atlanta. Alford, recognizing that there was a pattern emerging in the quotes she was producing, called her out on her racial condescension:
Boxer seems to assume that Mr. Alford should or will change his position because another black organization disagrees with him. Just like affirmative action assumes that minorities can’t compete against white men without government help, Mrs. Boxer’s statement was simply racist. Despite her last-minute attempt at clean-up in the Senate chamber, her racist move was captured on video. Hopefully her constituents will be made aware of it before next November.
