The Politico calls this a gaffe but only in the sense that he didn’t mean to tell the truth.
“The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system,” Obama said in remarks after a health care roundtable with physicians, nurses and health care providers. “And greater stability and security to America’s families and businesses.”
What it should actually say is:
“The reforms we seek would bring almost no competition, limited if any choice, skyrocketing prices and inefficiencies to our health care system…”
But all we can really ask for is baby steps in regards to Barack Obama telling the truth. Better than nothing, but the American people deserve the entire truth now.
We’re talking about the same people responsible for the Department of Motor Vehicles running a national healthcare system crafted by the same Congress responsible for the current financial crisis and the disastrous porkulus. Of course it’ll being greater inefficiencies. It will also, as noted above, send prices flying up, drown-out competition, rid the system of choice, and destroy a healthcare system that remains the envy of the world.
