by Stephan Tawney on July 20, 2009

The federal government spent over a half-million dollars to install a traffic signal in Hawaii’s 1st Congressional district, represented by Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D).

According to the $18 million Recovery.gov website, the $541,119 expense went to C & C Electrical Contractor, Inc. through a no-bid, no-competition process. The project location is listed as Hickam Air Force Base, with the project to be completed by next May.
