Via Michelle Malkin, Philip Klein of The American Spectator points to a study that shows just how bad ObamaCare would be for those currently with private insurance. Not only would those Americans have to pay for the socialized healthcare through their taxes, but 83 million of them would lose their private insurance:
Democrats and President Obama have denied that the creation of a new government-run health care plan would be a Trojan Horse for single-payer health care, but a new report by the Lewin Group (comissioned by the Heritage Foundation) finds that the House Democrats’ health care bill would shift more 83.4 million Americans from private health care coverage to the government plan. To put that in perspective, that would mean that nearly half (48.4 percent) would lose their private health coverage.
Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats have repeatedly stated that Americans who like their current insurance can keep it, a statement that’s been proven to be a blatant lie by many countless sources from all across the political spectrum. Undoubtedly tens of millions of citizens — 83 million according to the above story — will be removed from their current insurance policies.
Why would this be a problem you ask? After all, liberal Democrats tell us that the entire system in our country is broken and Americans everywhere are simply demanding the government takeoever the nation’s health system. Well, 70% of Americans who have private insurance — which is itself an overwhelming majority of the population — would rate their current plans as good or excellent. Now you’re talking about taking nearly half of insured Americans off the healthcare plans they’re currently pleased with having.
It’s undeniable: Not only would ObamaCare send our nation’s deficit skyrocketing and send the quality of healthcare system plummeting, but it would dramatically expand government control and shove millions of Americans off of their private health plans. It must be stopped.
Call your representatives and tell them to vote against socialized healthcare: 202-225-3121.
