You have to hand it to Twinkle Toes: It takes basketball-sized nads to claim that 2.3 million jobs lost, a $787 billion stimulus package failing entirely, the prospect of spending $23 trillion in order to fix the economy, and major companies still going into bankruptcy, all qualify as an economy “rescued”.
White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel told The New York Times Obama intends to use the news conference as a “six-month report card,” to talk about “how we rescued the economy from the worst recession” and the legislative agenda moving forward, including health care and energy legislation.
The Obama Administration is beginning to resemble the French elite immediately prior to the French Revolution. The people have no bread to eat? Let them eat cake. The people are rapidly losing their jobs? Let their job be praising us for saving the economy.
Seeing an opportunity ripe for taking, Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) dutifully mocks Twinkle Toes for the incredible assertion. And Allahpundit takes the opportunity to utilize his trademark snark:
Unemployment at 9.5 percent and climbing, $23 trillion potentially spent to fix the economy, and this galactic tool has the stones to raise the “Mission Accomplished” banner over the U.S.S. Hopenchange. You’re welcome, America.
Perhaps it’s time to fit Rahm Emanuel for a corset and wig. Although, truth be told, Marie Antoinette was far sexier.
