More Companies Buckle Under Far-Left Wing Pressure, Boycott Beck

by Stephan Tawney on August 18, 2009

The list of companies that neither myself nor my family members will ever give a dime to again has grown again this evening. Wal-Mart, CVS, and Best Buy have all demonstrated that they have no spine by buckling under threats of boycott from the far-left wing. All because they ran ads during Glenn Beck’s show, which the left’s trying to get off the air due to Beck’s unrepentant criticism of The One.

Lesson to companies: Unless you only sponsor far-left wing outlets that spread propaganda for liberal Democrats, you’re going to be threatened with a boycott by a group of individuals largely composed of the welfare class and people already living off the tit of government. They may no longer spend their welfare checks on your service/product.

Twenty companies have pulled their ads from Beck’s show in just the last two weeks. The moves come after the Fox News host called President Obama a “racist” who “has a deep-seated hatred for white people” during an appearance on Fox & Friends. Previous companies who pulled their ads include ConAgra, GEICO, Lawyers.com, Men’s Wearhouse, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, RadioShack, Roche, SC Johnson, Sanofi-Aventis, Sargento, and State Farm Insurance.

“We are heartened to see so many corporate citizens step up in support of our campaign against Glenn Beck,” said James Rucker, executive director of ColorOfChange.org. “Their action sends a clear a message to Glenn Beck: Broadcasters shouldn’t abuse the privilege they enjoy by spewing dangerous and racially charged hate language over the air. No matter their political affiliation, hate language doesn’t belong in our national dialogue.”

“Walmart [sic] today confirmed the retailer pulled ads from the Glenn Beck show on August 3rd,” said David Tovar, a spokesperson for Wal-Mart, in an email to ColorOfChange.org.

“While advertising on Fox is part of our communication plan, we had not requested time on Glenn Beck’s show specifically,” said Carolyn Castel, Vice President of Corporate Communications for CVS Caremark, in an email to ColorOfChange.org. “We have instructed our advertising agency to inform Fox to ensure Glenn Beck’s program is not part of our advertising plan.”

They’re pathetic fucking wimps with no spine whatsoever. They don’t even have the nads to just come out and say that they’re backing down under threats from the left’s thugocracy. Instead we get bullshit statements about continuing to advertise on Fox but deciding to alter their “advertising plan”.

The left has been unable to win the ideological argument and is watching its precious socialistic plans go down in flames. So they’ve resorted to attempts to shut down dissent through the use of the free market that they so despise. It’s pathetic and counters everything they purport to believe in. Apparently they have tolerance for terrorists at Guantanamo Bay, but not commentators at Fox who dare to criticize their beloved leader.

The boycott will fail as most do. Fox is the highest-rate cable news network on television, oftentimes with its shows beating all of the other networks combined. Glenn Beck is amongst its highest-rated shows and will continue to draw other major advertisers. The above companies will likely back down, too, as soon as they learn that these leftists have little purchasing power and are a very small minority of the country.
