Dems Go On Witch Hunt Against Private Insurance Companies

Having badly lost the ideological debate over ObamaCare with the public at large, Congressional Democrats are now going on a witch hunt against private insurance companies who offer alternative health care plans.

Apparently without any sense of irony whatsoever, House Democrats are investigating the nation’s largest insurance companies for “lavish spending”. Because apparently companies spending money is now an illegal act requiring investigation by a body of government that spends like money is water.

Letters sent to 52 insurance companies by Democratic leaders demand extensive documents for an examination of ‘extensive compensation and other business practices in the health insurance industry.” The letters set a deadline of Sept. 14 for the documents.

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, signed the three-page letter dated Monday.

An industry source replied when asked for comment: “This is nothing more than a taxpayer-funded fishing expedition designed to silence health plans.”

Look, Democrats now that they’ve lost the argument over government-run health care. They simply can’t convince the American people to accept ObamaCare, to allow bureaucrats to take over the nation’s health care system, based on the facts. So they’re resorting to the same tactics they used against AIG executives in order to stir up populist anger and demonize the private industry.

They’re abusing their positions of power in order to further the public plan they’re pushing. They’re utilizing their Congressional powers to punish private companies and help the government plan. And they want us to believe that the private industry will do just fine in its competition with ObamaCare? They want us to think that private companies won’t be driven out through Congressional abuse of power to rig the system in the favor of the government option?

This is just a sign of things to come. Congressional Democrats will use the government’s regulatory power in order to push the government option forward and drive out private industry. It’ll all part of the road to a single-payer system that top Democrats have already conceded is their ultimate goal.
