You’ll recall the segment in question: MSNBC intentionally edited video of a gentlemen legally carrying a rifle outside of an Obama town hall on health care, which played while its anchors discussed how this was all just racism directed at the nation’s first black president. Why was the video edited? Because the man carrying the gun was himself black. Had they shown the full video it would’ve undermined their race-baiting, so they edited it to fit their narrative.
Anyway, now the network is desperately trying to to spin the race-baiting into having been a general discussion, rather than focusing on the video they actually showed to back up their argument.
An MSNBC spokesperson responded to POLITICO: “Contessa was speaking generally and not about that specific person with the automatic weapon.”
No, that’s just why they used an edited version of that specific video in order to prove their narrative. Because if they had used the full video, showing the fact that the man was himself black, their whole argument would’ve gone out the window. Their “general” point was that it’s all racially motivated, and yet the guns were being carried by people of different races.
Anyway, Americans for Limited Government is calling for the firing of those involved:
On behalf of the nearly half million members of Americans for Limited Government — and tens of millions of other equally appalled Americans of all races nationwide — I hereby demand the immediate termination of Contessa Brewer, Toure, Dylan Ratigan and any and all others involved in any way with the fraudulent “news” that ran in the 10:45AM segment of your August 18 broadcast.
You network has besmirched the dignity and honor of American people. You have endangered the life of the President of the United States. You have purposely fanned racial tensions. And you have deliberately lied to your own audience.
Those are two very important points. In the course of trying to blame the libertarian exercises of Second Amendment rights on racial tensions, MSNBC actually lied in order to flame racial tensions. Someone should be joining the unemployment line over this incident.
As Lorien1973 writes over at Hot Air:
Cuz when you show video of a guy with a gun and talk about that guy with the gun, you are totally not referring to that guy with the gun.
The spin is that pathetic.
