He’s cutting off all non-humanitarian aid to the country after it decided to remove a leader violating the constitution and seeking to become president for life. He’s actually punishing an ally of ours because it decided to legally protect its constitution from a leftist thug.
Congratulations, Barry. You’ve placed the United States on the side of Cuba and Venezuela. What could possibly go wrong?
The State Department announced this afternoon that it will terminate “a broad range of assistance” to Honduras in response to the June 28 coup.
The announcement comes on the day that ousted President Zelaya is at the State Department to meet with Hillary Clinton.
The statement below from spokesman Ian Kelly says the the restoration of aid to Honduras will depend on Honduras returning to “democratic, constitutional governance.”
The U.S. is pressing for “legitimate” elections to take place in November.
Wait. What?
Zelaya was violating his nations constitution by attempting to hold an illegal referendum that would’ve put him on course to be president for life, much like Castro or Chavez. So Honduras’ Supreme Court, military, and legislative branch all approved his peaceful and legal removal from power in order to protect their constitution and people from a leftist dictator.
And we’re accusing it of having strayed from “democratic, constitution governance”?
Apparently the Obama Administration would’ve considered an illegal referendum and constitution violations by Zelaya in line with “democratic, constitutional governance”. But God forbid the nation legally acts to protect itself from the dictator-to-be.
It’s a disgrace rarely matched in foreign policy. There will be quite a mess to clean up after Barry’s four years in office.
