Like Allahpundit, I’m skeptical.
First of all, Barack Obama is giving this major speech tomorrow night for the simple reason that ObamaCare is on the verge of failing entirely.
Second, the Weekly Standard has found 37 House Democrats who’ve already gone on record opposing various forms of the legislation, due to reasons ranging from the public option to abortion funding.
Finally, Pelosi and Reid fail to mention which proposal they have the votes to pass. There’s no single piece of legislation to vote for. Do they have the votes to pass the public option? The public option with a trigger? Reforms with no public option? State co-ops? Health insurance mandates? Tax incentives? They don’t say.
Sounds like another bluff from Reid and Pelosi to demoralize opponents of socialized medicine into thinking opposition is a lost cause. Let’s call their bluff.
