Reminder: ObamaCare Won’t Take Effect Until 2013

Not long from now Obama will begin reading lies, hyperbole, and empty platitudes from his now-infamous teleprompter.

He’ll lie about allowing Americans to keep their current health insurance plans if they like them. He’ll lie about the plans before Congress being deficit neutral. He’ll lie about the government not taking over your health decisions under the public option. He’ll lie about the public option not leading to a single-payer system.

But most of all, he’ll lie about what ObamaCare will achieve. We’ll be told that ObamaCare will provide immediate and affordable access to health care for millions of Americans. We’ll leave the blatant lie about affordability alone and instead concentrate on the “immediate” aspect.

The Associated Press has already confirmed that, even if ObamaCare is signed into law this afternoon, the uninsured won’t receive the coverage Obama promises until at least 2013. Yes, 2013. As in 4 years, 2 Congressional elections, and one presidential election from now. If Obama’s a one-term president as is expected, ObamaCare won’t provide coverage for the uninsured until after the next president is sworn in.

So if the goal is really to provide affordable and immediate access to health care for the uninsured, and not to bring about a single-payer system, then why is ObamaCare neither affordable nor immediate?

The plans proposed by Congress and supported by the president don’t achieve the goals they claim to want to achieve. They do, however, lead to an eventual single-payer system in the United States — which is what opponents of ObamaCare have been claiming all along.
