Jimmy Carter Helpfully Spreads Anti-American Claims Overseas

Specifically, he helpfully suggests while in Columbia that the United States was behind a 2002 coup attempt against Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez. It’s a claim likely to help feed Chavez’s paranoia, provide more excuses for him to take even more freedoms away from his citizens, and generally spread anti-American sentiments.

On Sunday, Jimmeh told the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo that he believes the Bush Administration was likely behind a coup against Hugo Chavez in 2002 in Venezuela.

“I think there is no doubt that in 2002, the United States had at the very least full knowledge about the coup, and could even have been directly involved,” said the man whose favorite pastime these days is to huddle up with anti-American thugs.

Oh, one other result of Carter’s stupidity: It gives Iran, currently pursuing nuclear weapons, another excuse to bolster its thug ally in Venezuela.

Decades after his presidency left America more vulnerable, Carter continues to undermine American security and influence. What a horrible human being.
