In case you had any doubt that the Obama Administration is a condescending unit people who think you need them to take care of you, this should help put your mind at rest.
In the latest display of elitism from the White House, Energy Secretary Steven Chu has decided that Americans are unruly teenagers who, for some reason, still insist on making their own decisions.
When it comes to greenhouse-gas emissions, Energy Secretary Steven Chu sees Americans as unruly teenagers and the Administration as the parent that will have to teach them a few lessons.
Speaking on the sidelines of a smart grid conference in Washington, Dr. Chu said he didn’t think average folks had the know-how or will to to change their behavior enough to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.
“The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” Dr. Chu said. “The American public has to really understand in their core how important this issue is.” (In that case, the Energy Department has a few renegade teens of its own.)
That bit of editorializing from the Wall Street Journal references the fact that the Department of Energy failed in the area of energy efficiency in its own buildings. The White House had problems, too.
Yet these same individuals want to lecture you on how to run your life or even actually run your life. Because, you see, you’re not an adult capable of making your own decisions. You’re an unruly teenager who needs Papa Government to tell you what to do.
Their condescension is gag-inducing.
