She may be going quickly but she’s not going quietly. Anita Dunn, outgoing White House Communications Director, hinted in an interview that President Barack Obama himself approved of her attacks on Fox News.
Here’s the relevant section of the Bloomberg interview:
HUNT: Just – just – just a follow-on on this. Was President Obama aware ahead of time that you were going to criticize FOX?
DUNN: You know, the – I am not a person who is known for going rogue, OK?
Declaring war on a major network without the president’s knowledge would be considered rogue, and Dunn now says she’s no rogue.
She elaborated and recommitted earlier on in the interview, too:
HUNT: Let me ask you about your famous broadside against FOX News.
DUNN: Absolutely.
HUNT: Was that just Anita Dunn talking, or was that something you and Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod planned ahead of time?
DUNN: Well, you know, Al, I am not exactly one known for going rogue, to use a popular phrase these days.
Again, she apparently considers attacking a major network without presidential and high-level approval something a rogue would do. And Dunn says she’s no rogue.
It’s a way of saying the war on Fox News was approved by high-level officials, including the president himself, without directly indicting them and ruining her future in liberal politics.
