More Evidence That Charlie Crist Is Lying

by Stephan Tawney on November 17, 2009

Florida Governor Charlie Crist shocked the media and political establishment, as well as anyone who’s been paying attention to the news, by claiming recently that he never endorsed the $787 billion “stimulus package”. It only really came as a surprise because Crist, who also supports cap-and-trade, expressly endorsed the $787 billion “stimulus package” on national television earlier this year.

Yes, he’s claiming that he never endorsed legislation that he not only campaigned alongside Barack Obama to pass, but that he expressly endorsed on national television.

Anyway, a plethora of evidence was quickly produced to disprove Crist’s ridiculous claim (did I mention he expressly endorsed the legislation on national television?). And today Tom Dickinson of Rolling Stone produces the latest proof that Crist is lying.

Dickinson interviewed Crist for an article back during the spring of this year. At the time, Crist was an open supporter of the massive liberal legislation. The Florida Senate candidate told Dickinson at the time:

Rolling Stone: Just a final question: Had you been in the Senate, would you have voted with the other Republicans for the stimulus package?

Crist: Absolutely.

Charlie Crist in Spring 2009: I “absolutely” would’ve voted in favor of the $787 billion stimulus package!

Charlie Crist in Fall 2009: I never even endorsed the $787 billion stimulus package, much less voted for it.

The Florida governor isn’t just misleading the public, he’s flat-out lying in order to save his political career. He can’t be trusted with a seat in the U.S. Senate.
