A spokesman for the United States Secret Service says reality star-wannabes Michaele and Tareq Salahi may face criminal charges for making their way, uninvited, into a White House state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Bravo has already confirmed that the Salahis are being considered for inclusion in the television network’s show Real Housewives of DC. In fact, Politico reports that cameras were following the couple on the day they entered the party uninvited, even following them up to the White House complex.
Jim Macklin of the Secret Service says the agency responsible for protecting the president is moving closer to opening a criminal investigation and that no options have been taken off the table.
The story has only gotten more bizarre since it was first reported on Thursday. The couple claimed that they had been cleared for the party and that their names were only absent from the official invite list because they were invited at the last minute. The Obama Administration, however, said the Salahis were never invited to the state dinner.
By the way, the Secret Service says President Obama was never in danger because the couple had to go through the same weapons screening as every other attendee. Really, though? Every other attendee was likely subjected to a background check to determine if his or her presence was safe. These two weren’t and weapons can be made of any old object, including, say, forks and knives.
Once again the federal government screws up. What else is new?
