Michaele and Tareq Salahi, the uninvited couple who crashed the recent White House state dinner in an attempt to draw attention to their reality show bid, were able to meet President Obama during their charade. Scroll down the Hot Air post to see the picture of the couple with the president.
The Secret Service insists that Mr. Obama’s life was never in jeopardy due to this security breach, as the couple — who now potentially face criminal charges – had to pass through the same security perimeter as every invited guest.
But is that really the case? As Allahpundit says, the only thing that stood between uninvited guests with makeshift weapons — say, forks and knives — and the VIPs were quick (hopefully) responses from Secret Service agents. So there was at least some danger here.
By the way, we now know how the couple managed to get introduced despite not being on the invite list. Once they managed to get inside thanks to lapses in security and assumptions made at checkpoints, all they had to do was write their names on cards and hand it to the announcer.
