by Stephan Tawney on December 4, 2009

Amanda Knox is an American college student on trial in Italy for the murder of her British roommate. Professor Wikipedia has some background on the case here. The trial of 22-year-old Seattle girl has been going on for about a year now.

Anyway, court officials now tell the Associated Press that, after 11 hours of deliberations by jurors, the verdict is expected around 6:00 pm ET. If found guilty of the murder, Knox faces a life behind bars.

Her Italian co-defendant, Raffaele Sollecito, will also learn his fate this evening. He was also charged with the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher. (Knox and Sollecito were dating, while the former was sharing an apartment with Kercher.)
