Surprise: ACORN Finds No Pattern of Illegal Activity at ACORN

by Stephan Tawney on December 7, 2009

You mean an internal audit of ACORN conducted by far left-wing ACORN stooges didn’t turn up a pattern of illegality at ACORN offices? I’m shocked, as I’m sure you are. I fully expected the audit to find a corrupt organization worthy of federal investigation.

WASHINGTON — An internal investigation of the community-organizing group ACORN found no pattern of intentional, illegal conduct by ACORN staffers on undercover videos shot by conservative critics of the group.

“conservative critics”. That’s the beginning of the media painting the multiple undercover videos as nothing more than petty politics and taking the word of this rigged audit as the word of God, by the way.

The videos of ACORN staffers offering advice to a woman and a man posing as a prostitute and her boyfriend triggered a firestorm of criticism this fall, with some ACORN employees appearing willing to support illegal schemes involving tax advice, misuse of public funds and illegal trafficking in children.

Appearing? They openly helped a “prostitute” and “pimp” establish tax shelters to help further their brothel business and even bring underage sex slaves into the country. One office even offered assistance in getting the children into the country through contacts in Mexico.

“We did not find a pattern of intentional, illegal conduct by ACORN staff involved; in fact, no action, illegal or otherwise, was ever taken by any ACORN employee on behalf of the videographers,” Harshbarger said in a statement. “Instead, the videos represent the byproduct of ACORN’s longstanding management weaknesses, including a lack of training, a lack of procedures and a lack of on-site supervision.”

Yes, multiple offices in multiple states offering the same assistance on tax fraud, child prostitution, and misuse of public funds doesn’t demonstrate a pattern of illegal activity. No, it’s all about “management weakness”.

CORN CEO Bertha Lewis called the report “part vindication, part constructive criticism and complete roadmap for the future” on behalf of “the interests of the communities we represent — low- and moderate-income, African-American and Latino families.”

Basically it turned out the way we expected: Light criticism of “management” and dismissal of any allegations of illegal activity. That despite overwhelming evidence of coordination illegal activity. The audit panel was filled with left-wing stooges from every Soros-funding element in existence. It wasn’t about to find problems with a far-left, radical organization that works to elect liberal Democrats.
