Imagine, if you will, that Rush Limbaugh or Fox News posted a Christmas gift guide for your black and other non-white friends. We’re talking months of material for MSNBC, weeks of editorial columns for the nation’s major newspapers, and obligatory condemnations from prominent members of Congress.
But it’s the New York Times publishing this guide, so it’s “culturally conscience”, “ethnically diverse”, and every other politically correct term for underlying racism from the left. Here’s the introduction to the section alone:
Somali fashion, do-it-yourself henna kits, children’s books that draw inspiration from the lives of Barack Obama and Sonia Sotomayor: it’s not hard to find gifts created for and by people of color this holiday season. Here are some possibilities.
…
Your friend is black, therefore he or she must love African fashion, Barack Obama, and henna. Yeah, this is totally not racist.
Mediaite covers some of the other gift options put forth by the Paper of Record.
In case you’re interested, some of the “possibilities” include ‘The Mocha Manual to Military Life: A Savvy Guide for Wives, Girlfriends and Female Service Members’; ‘Wise Latina’ t-shirts; and a number of hair and make-up products designed for people of color.
What, did the Klu Klux Klan purchase the Times? The only stereotypical items missing from this list are KFC gift cards and Grow-Your-Own-Watermelon kits.
