Obama: You Know What? I Give Myself a B-Plus

Because he’s that awesome.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama, in an interview that aired Sunday, gave himself “a good solid B-plus” grade for his first year in office.

Speaking with fellow Chicagoan Oprah Winfrey, the president claimed progress on economic and international fronts.
Obama said the only thing that stands in the way of giving himself a better grade is the fact that some elements of his agenda — health care reform and putting more Americans to work — remain undone.

The only thing standing in the way of him giving himself an “A” is the fact that his domestic agenda can’t pass Congress and Americans don’t have jobs. Other than that? Awesometastic awesomeness.

***

Gallup has his approval at 48%, lower than any other first-year approval in modern history. CNN has him upside down, with more disapproving than approving. His Congressional allies are preparing themselves for an epic ass-kicking next November.

The deficit is at a record high; unemployment sits at 10%, when the $787 billion stimulus was supposed to keep it under 8%; and he can’t pass his unpopular domestic agenda through a Congress his party controls.

Iran is working on triggers for nuclear weapons; North Korea is smuggling weapons to state sponsors of terrorism; and his promises on Gitmo and transparency have been abandoned.

But The One gives himself a B+. Because he thinks he’s that awesome and his policies that beloved.
