Ben Nelson’s betrayal has left no one outside of Washington pleased. Word now comes that the National Organization for Women, the nation’s foremost pro-choice organization, says it will oppose the Senate healthcare bill.
A leading women’s group called on senators on Saturday to defeat its healthcare reform bill.
The leader of the National Organization for Women (NOW) excoriated the language in the health bill curtailing federal support for insurance plan covering abortions, which was inserted to win the 60th vote of Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.)….
“We call on all senators who consider themselves friends of women’s rights to reject the Manager’s Amendment, and if it remains, to defeat this cruelly over-compromised legislation,” O’Neill added.
Meanwhile, pro-life Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich) is reportedly working with Republicans to defeat the abortion sell-out agreed to by Traitor Nelson. They’re also working with the Conference of Catholic Bishops, who oppose the bill.
The legislation is now opposed by pro-life groups, pro-choice groups, liberals, conservatives, single-payer advocates, free market advocates, and the public at large.
And yet Democrats will vote to pass this universally-despised legislation. Because Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack Obama like it. Completely out of touch.
