Good News: Undibomber Was Denied British Visa

by Stephan Tawney on December 27, 2009

Perhaps Secretary Napolitano could explain how this fits into her “the system worked” narrative.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the individual who attempted to blow up Northwest Airlines flight 253 over Detroit on Christmas Day, was recently denied a visa by the British government.

In fact, the denial of entry occurred not long before “the system” let this same individual enter the United States carrying explosives in his underwear.

The Sunday Times report, confirmed to AFP by a government source, said the UK Border Agency had rejected Abdulmutallab’s request for a visa for the new six-month course at a different college because the establishment concerned was considered bogus.

“He was refused entry on grounds that he was applying to study at an educational establishment that we didn?t consider to be genuine,” an unnamed government official told the newspaper.

So he wasn’t just a known terrorist sympathizer and member of the U.S. government’s TIDE list. He was also a exposed liar who couldn’t even gain entry into a country in which he had roots. And yet we still granted him an entry visa into the heart of our nation.

Smell that? That’s “the system” clearly functioning properly. Yep, no problems here. Tell ‘em, Janet.

Incidentally, another fun fact emerged today: Abdulmutallab, or the undibomber as he will henceforth be called, was known in school for defending the mass murder of 3,000 individuals on American soil.

Oh, and his father notified American authorities that his son posed a threat to national security about a month ago. And yet his visa was still left valid.

Heckuva job, system.
