This is huge. Barring unforeseen circumstances, Republicans are likely to pick up his seat come November. The anti-incumbent fervor in the country was already strong and Dorgan was in danger, but the benefit that comes with being a multi-term senator may’ve saved him.

Now Democrats will have to put forth a newbie with no incumbency advantage to whomever the Republicans nominate. He’ll have to fight for a red state seat in an anti-Democratic year. Dorgan’s endorsement will become largely useless, especially after ObamaCare.
