TSA Nominee: Global Warming Deserves Same Attention as Terrorism

by Stephan Tawney on January 11, 2010

A few things to take away from this train wreck of an interview.

First of all, let’s remember that this is the guy who lied to Congress and was censured by the FBI for abusing his power. No real relevance to this situation, but it’s worth recalling.

Next, his belief that jihadists are attacking the United States because of our alliance with Israel is as ignorant as it is typical for the left-wing. It ignores just about every aspect of the jihadist ideology and the ultimate goals of these groups. They might not like Israel and our alliance doesn’t make us any less of a target, but to pretend abandoning Israel would stop the terrorism is moronic. Sayyid Qutb’s ideological legacy can’t quite be summed up with “Israel sucks!”.

Finally, we reach the real meat: The nominee to head the agency responsible for airline security believes global warming, which was largely discredited between the extended cold spells and ClimateGate, deserves as much attention as stopping terrorist attacks against the United States. Good Lord.

In what world is the possibility of a slight warming of the globe, which has happened throughout history, on par with nearly 300 people being blown to smithereens over Detroit? Or 3,000 innocent people being murdered on American soil? The skies must be beautiful there.
