Hey, this probably comes as news to the American military, the White House, and those of us who live in reality. Martha Coakley, the Democratic candidate for senator in Massachusetts, declares that there are no terrorists left in Afghanistan.
I think we have done what we are going to be able to do in Afghanistan. I think that we should plan an exit strategy. Yes. I’m not sure there is a way to succeed. If the goal was and the mission in Afghanistan was to go in because we believed that the Taliban was giving harbor to terrorists. We supported that. I supported that. They’re gone. They’re not there anymore.
What? They’re gone? Then why are our troops fighting the Taliban and its allied terrorist forces on a daily basis in Afghanistan? Why did President Obama feel compelled, at the advice of top military commanders, to order an immediate surge of tens of thousands of troops? Why are drone missile attacks almost daily news?
Coakley doesn’t appear to be living in the same world the rest of us. And while the skies might be pretty in whichever world she’s inhabiting, someone who doesn’t live in reality really shouldn’t be a United States Senator. It seems a bit dangerous.
