All reports indicate that not only is the international airport in Haiti’s Port-Au-Prince closed today, but it’s seriously damaged. CNN even says the air traffic control tower is “gone”.
Meanwhile, passengers from one of the last flights out of Haiti say the airport itself had sever cracking. Pictures from iReport on CNN seem to confirm those reports.
The runway appears to be in good shape, as it was inspected and an American Airlines flight was cleared for departure. But no commercial flights will be inbound without a air traffic control tower.
