- Regardless of how you view corporations or unions, the case was decided correctly. McCain-Feingold reeks of unconstitutionality. The now-dead provisions directly limited free speech. It never jived with the First Amendment.
- Don’t assume corporations will suddenly inundate the political system with treasury funds backing or opposing candidates. Formally taking a political position risks alienating customers. Political positions will now be more transparent.
- Which company wants to be the first to alienate half of its customer base by running ads for or against a politician?
- Note to liberals: Do yourself a political favor and don’t even suggest amending the First Amendment.
- Little will change except additional transparency. Corporate and labor dollars never truly left the system. They just had to find ways to work around the First Amendment violations.
