You were probably under the mistaken impression that the $800 billion+ stimulus package was actually intended to create jobs and stimulate the economy. Silly you.
Americans for Tax Reform reveals that stimulus funds are now going to purchase iPods for parents who fill out school surveys. Because that’s somehow creating jobs.
The Polk County school district is giving away iPods to some parents.
The school district is using the device to reward parents of children with disabilities who fill out a 10-minute online survey. The district wants to know how well it’s connecting with the parents and how to get parents involved in their children’s education.
The district is spending about $350,000 in federal stimulus money for the iPods.
Exactly how many survey-completing parents of disabled children are there in Polk County? $350,000 in federal taxpayer funds to purchase $249 MP3 players for parents of children already receiving an education on the taxpayer dime? Over 1,400 iPods?
Wild concept: How about parents filling out surveys to improve their children’s education because they actually care about their children’s education? You know, rather than just to receive a high-priced MP3 player courtesy of the American taxpayer. Crazy idea, I know.
