In Defense of The Dubai Assassination

I agree whole-heartedly with Sonny Bunch’s defense of the alleged Mossad operation that assassinated Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, military chief for terror group Hamas.

In fact, I’m not quite sure what some people are opposed to in this operation. The fact no civilian lives were placed at risk? The fact a terrorist responsible for countless innocent deaths is now dead? Silly me, I considered those factors positive in nature.

Al-Mabhou was a high-ranking member of a renowned and bloody terrorist group. He was responsible for killing innocent civilians and waging war against humanity itself. So why should we be disturbed that he’s now at room temperature thanks to a targeted operation that put no innocent lives at risk?

As Sonny says:

There is nothing immoral about killing an evil man. Indeed, I would argue that it’s immoral to allow him to live and kill future innocent civilians if you are presented with the opportunity to take him out in a way that endangers no one and fail to do so.

Thomas Mann once wrote that tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil. That’s the situation Mossad faced.

The evil route wouldn’t have been to do as Mossad did and kill an international terrorist where no civilians would be harmed. The evil route would’ve been to allow said terrorist to continue plotting his crimes.
