Reports: Two Democrats Get Federal Appointments for “Yes” Votes

by Stephan Tawney on March 18, 2010

Reports indicate that two House Democrats, Reps. Barton Gordon (D-TN) and John Tanner (D-TN), have been promised major federal positions in exchange for their “yes” votes on government-run health care. The promises would amount to bribery.

Gordon, who just announced today that he would support the $940 billion legislation, is reportedly in line for a job as NASA administrator.

Tanner, meanwhile, has reportedly been promised the job of ambassador to NATO.

Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) has promised to crack down on bribes offered by the White House and House leadership. He will hold any nominations and root out any appropriation bribes. And those who allowed themselves to be bribed will have to answer to the charges.
