Viagra, Reconciliation, and Tom Coburn

by Stephan Tawney on March 23, 2010

Senator Tom Cobrun (R-OK) has offered an amendment to the reconciliation legislation that would bar sex offenders from acquiring the erectile dysfunction medication Viagra.

No, Coburn isn’t suddenly on a jihad against sex offenders using erectile dysfunction pills. He’s forcing Democrats into a tough vote.

Democrats can support the amendment and therefore alter the legislation, meaning sixty votes would be require for passage.

Or they can vote against the amendment and spend an electoral season defending their vote in favor of Viagra-acquiring sex offenders.

Pick one.
