Bart Stupak just called. He’s sure this can all be fixed with another meaningless piece of paper no one outside of the Democratic caucus takes seriously.
When she signed a consent form, Jill figured it meant her 15 year old could go to the Ballard Teen Health Center located inside the high school for an earache, a sports physical, even birth control, but not for help terminating a pregnancy.
“She took a pregnancy test at school at the teen health center,” she said. “Nowhere in this paperwork does it mention abortion or facilitating abortion.”
Jill says her daughter, a pro-life advocate, was given a pass, put in a taxi and sent off to have an abortion during school hours all without her family knowing.
“We had no idea this was being facilitated on campus,” said Jill. “They just told her that if she concealed it from her family, that it would be free of charge and no financial responsibility.”
Ed Morrissey adds:
The video report mentions that the mother is pro-choice, not pro-life, which makes the story even stranger.
Not particularly. Gallup has already found that young adults are more likely to be pro-life. And the mother may be pro-choice but that doesn’t mean she wants abortions performed on her pro-life daughter without parental consent. She’s still a child.
Some will say the 15-year-old is hypocritical for being a pro-life advocate even while allowing herself to be convinced to have an abortion. But that’s not the issue here. The girl isn’t even old enough to vote or sign her own release forms. Her parents should have been notified prior to an abortion procedure being carried out.
By the way, then clinic’s excuse for providing a 15-year-old with an abortion without expressed parental consent? They can’t mention every ailment, silly. There was simply no room left for “abortion” between “common cold” and “headache”.
